Brake rotors can also become warped from heat. Warped rotors are less efficient at stopping your car and will increase your stopping distance. Keep in mind that worn out shock absorbers and struts can also lead to increased stopping distances. Struts and shocks help keep tires planted to the road rather than bouncing off of the road surface. If your tires leave contact with the road surface, they can not stop the vehicle.
